I do quite a bit of travelling for both work and for pleasure, but regardless of why I’m travelling, I always travel with my laptop and a few accessories. I’ve been doing this for quite a long time now, and I think I have distilled down the perfect ‘mobile-office-in-a-backpack’.

With my current travel set up, I feel like I can work with full efficiency from just about anywhere. I can be just about as productive in a café in an airport as I can in my home office, and that is in large part to refining over many years what I carry with my when I’m travelling.

In this post, I’ll share what I take with me on my travels and try to make a case for it’s inclusion!

There is no escaping the fact that this is an expensive list of technology… But, most of the items on this list — and certainly the most expensive ones — also see use in my home office. These items are not ‘just’ for travel, and most of them see daily use in my home office as well as when I am on the road.

Because I need to lug these things about, every piece needs to justify it’s existence. The considerations for this are:

  • Utility. At the top of this list for a good reason. There is no point in dragging about stuff that you are not going to use.
  • Weight. These things are all individually…
